Foul Play performs at all home basketball games and select post-season games. They provide a foundation of pep and spirit for basketball players and the fans. Foul Play has performed in Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and at the Final Four in Evansville, Indiana.
There are two Jazz Bands at Tarleton. Jazz Ensemble I is the premier jazz group on campus and plays music from Ellington and Basie to Schneider and Mintzer. The goal is to perform a wide variety of styles at the professional level. The band has traveled to England, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and Kansas. Performances include the Bull's Head Pub (London), Busker Brown's (Galway), the Reduta Jazz Club (Prague), the Vienna Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Wichita Jazz Festival. The band has also recorded two CDs'"' Big Bad Band' and' Whisper Not.' Jazz Ensemble II was created to give those students developing their jazz skills an opportunity to perform. The ensemble also gives beginning jazz students the opportunity to learn jazz. The music ranges from educational to professional level charts.
Texan Thunder is the newest of the Tarleton Athletic bands. Formed in 2015 to perform at the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Tournament, it was such a hit that two faculty members donated seed money to continue the band for the regular season. Texan Thunder performs at all home volleyball games and select post-season games.
One of the largest and most spirited musical ensembles on campus, The Sound & The Fury performs at all home football games, select away games and other notable events. The Marching Band has performed in London, Ireland, Chicago and at the UIL Texas State Band Championships. Membership is open to all Tarleton students with previous band experience regardless of academic major.
